Michael S. Prophet Connie and Super Connie Photo Collection
November 2009
Well known Dutch vintage aviation enthusiast Michael S. Prophet has been traveling the world since 1984 photographing and writing about old airliners. Interested in airplanes since he was a young child, Michael caught the “propliner bug” in 1982 when a friend showed him a copy of Propliner Magazine. His first trip was to Honolulu, Hawaii in August 1984, where he photographed Carvair, DC-6, DC-4 and DC-3 aircraft. Since then he has traveled the globe from Alaska in the north to South Africa in the south in his quest to document the last of these aeronautical dinosaurs. Over the years Michael has collected a large number of photographs taken by himself and other well known photographers including Ron Mak, Chris Mak, Jan Koppen, Peter de Groot, and Hans Huizing. He recently sent me a group of Constellation and Super Constellation photos from this collection for publication on this website. Michael has a fascinating website,
where he has posted articles and photos from his worldwide travels. Thanks very much to Michael and the other photographers for sharing their work.
